Enjoy The Ultimate Seduction At The Malmaison Manchester

Admittedly we did head to the Malmaison Manchester to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary, but if you are expecting an X-rated tale of debauchery, sorry you will be disappointed. The biggest seduction of the evening goes to the hotel. It truly bowled us over with fantastic service, large rooms, complimentary cocktails and seriously sexy decor.

Slinky surroundings at the Malmaison Manchester

The Malmaison Manchester is a slinky bolthole in the heart of the city. Just metres from the train station, it’s the perfect place to escape for a night with a loved one. We are celebrating our tenth wedding anniversary this weekend, so booked a night of chic cocktails and luxurious lounging.

The hotel is a master of illusion from the moment you enter the sexy, dim lit reception. A huge TV screen adorns the main wall, showing a carousel of inviting pictures. Colourful cocktails, and succulent meals tease you into staying longer than you anticipate. Then there’s the Chez Mal wall which ripples as though possessed. You find yourself wondering if you have had a few too many to drink as you watch hypnotised.

The Chez Mal Brasserie

Revellers flock to Chez Mal on Friday evenings to indulge in happy hour cocktails or sumptuous meals in the Brasserie. It’s a cross between a super cool bar and a US diner. Plenty of waiters provide an attentive service, and a touch of glamour in their New York Italian inspired outfits. They shake their mixers and whisk up colourful concoctions in minutes, whilst chatting to guests and visitors.

Whilst, we never planned to stay in the hotel all evening, sipping margaritas and people watching in sophisticated surroundings, persuades us to linger and we decide to eat in the restaurant.

The service is exceptional. Friendly waiters stop to chat, service is speedy and prices are reasonable. We paid £99 for two courses, one dessert and a 500ml carafe of wine. I highly recommend the French onion soup by the way. It was utterly delicious.

Rooms at the Malmaison

We booked via Travel The Globe 4 Less Trvl site and paid £113 for a Superior Double Room. I was pleasantly surprised at the value, as our room was spacious and sexy. Plump pillows lounge on the huge king size bed, whilst soft cushions and high back chairs encourage you to kick back and relax. Dark furniture contrasts with colourful splashes in the modern art adorning the walls.

The bathroom is just as sultry, with dark gray tiles and sterile white furnishings. A spacious separate shower and bath are both big enough to share should you feel the urge. We particularly loved the sassy toiletries inviting you to steal them away to a new home.

Although our room overlooked a busy thoroughfare, the Mal has clearly have soundproofed the windows, as I never heard an hint of drunken screaming and hollering during the night.

Other facilities at the Mal

There is also a spa and gym at the hotel but sadly, we were more interested in treating our taste buds and never made it beyond the bar and brasserie. See for yourself how seriously seductive this hotel is.

I’d like to say a special thank you to the Malmaison for our complimentary cocktails in celebration of our tenth wedding anniversary. However, this post is not a sponsored post and all opinions are my own.

  1. This looks like a fantastic place for some rest!

  2. Mmmmm, you had me at French Onion soup lol. What a cute little getaway! The decor definitely has a club-type vibe to it–very modern and different than most hotels. Soundproof rooms are definitely a bonus for us!! Always so annoying when you can hear doors closing all night long.

  3. Looks like an interesting place. I’ve photographed a lot of interiors but haven’t seen a design quite like that. Sounded like you had a great 10th year anniversary with all of those margaritas.

  4. I’m glad to hear you had a soundproof room on your anniversary, nothing like drunken hollering to kill the mood. I’ve never really seen the adjective used for a hotel before. From your description, it seems quite apt though.

  5. Happy 10th anniversary to you and I am only hoping that you enjoyed a lot. That’s quite a swanky hotel to celebrate your anniversary. I like the bar part over here

  6. Wowza, this place really is sexy! It looks like a great place to celebrate your anniversary, or host a hella cool bachelorette party! The decor just lends itself to a little (or a lot) of seduction so I hope you guys got to make the very most of it in the end 😉

  7. This looks like a great place to stay and the decorations are definitely interesting and unique. I would love to personally see these illusions presented by the hotel. The bar looks like a great place to chill and hang out. Thank you for sharing your experience.

  8. A very happy anniversary to you both! The Mal Maison looks like the perfect place to celebrate, and those cocktails sound yummy too. I see what you mean about the room being seductive, I think I would stay in that bed all day! Definitely will check this place if I’m in Manchester.

  9. Oh happy anniversary! That’s so sweet of the hotel to comp your cocktails! That really is such a swanky hotel! I love the vibe and it’s perfect for a romantic getaway!

  10. I’m sorry to hear that the hotel got more action for the evening! But it is a funky hotel that looks like loads of fun and tasty food. We usually don’t do food in the hotel but that looks so good, we would have to give it a try for sure. And soundproof rooms are always a plus.
