American Express have just announced a truly fantastic deal for both existing cardholders and potential new clients. For a limited time, this American Express Gold card offer rewards new applicants who use a referral link with 30,000 bonus points. Plus they earn an additional 5,000 bonus points if they make a transaction in month 15 of membership. The usual sign up bonus is 20.000 (or 22,000 with a referral link) so this is a superb offer. Hurry though, as you must sign up by 9th January 2024 to benefit.
How does the American Express Gold card offer work?
For new applicants
If you sign up using a referral link you will earn 30,000 bonus points when you spend £3,000 in 3 months. Note, you cannot earn the sign up bonus if you have held any other personal American Express cards in the last 24 months.
This means new applicants will earn 33,000 membership reward points in the first 3 months. That is the 30,000 welcome bonus and 1 bonus point for every £1 of spend. You must use a referral link to qualify.
For the referrer
The referrer earns a whopping referral bonus of 14,000 bonus points. Normally a referral results in the addition of 9,000 rewards so this is a cute deal. It might even be one of the best I have seen! Beware though, the deal comes to an end on 9th January 2024 so crack on and persuade your friends to sign up if you are an existing cardholder.
For applications before the 14th November there is an additional bonus. Yes, you only have 2 days to persuade your friends to bag this extra reward. If your friend successfully applies before the 14th November 2023, you earn an additional 2 points for every £1 you spend for the next three months. This only applies to spend up to £6,000. So, in addition to the 14,000 referral bonus, you could earn an extra 12,000 points on spend plus the 6,000 points you would earn for spending £6,000. That is an incredible 32,000 points.
With Christmas just around the corner, this could be the perfect time to boost your balance.
How to earn even more rewards as a new applicant
If you are a new applicant and have not held a American Express personal card in the last 24 months here is how you can earn 75,000 membership rewards in just 3 months
- Sign up and earn 30,000 bonus points
- Meet the minimum spend requirements and earn an additional 3,000 rewards
- Persuade 3 of your friends to use your referral link and earn a whopping 42,000 points
That gives you a whopping total of 75,000 points. That is more than enough to pay for two city break flights in Europe.
